The
World Bank delegates visit DSWRPP
The World Bank
review mission led by Eng. Nehal Fernando , Task Team Leader of the
World Bank for Dam Safety & Water Resources Planning Project visited
the DSWRPP. Dr.Ohn Myint ,Dr. S. Sathish and the officials from The
World Bank Colombo office joined the team. Eng. D.C.S. Elakanda, Project
Director of DSWRPP also accompanied with the team for a field visit
made to renovation program of Tabbowa dam on 9th, February 2010.
The People centered orientation for Tabbowa renovation program, peoples
participation for the program and their enthusiasm towards renovation
were highly appreciated by the mission team. The Social Safeguard
Management Program (SSMP) coupled with dam safety issues over renovation
of Tabbowa dam were focused by the review team at their visit to the
Tabbowa.
Since the consultancy firm already located in Tabbowa for initiating
the SSMP, the team sat with them to review the progress of the SSMP.
The mission team exchanged ideas on the renovation program with representatives
of the farmers organizations of the Tabbowa area.
Progress of the renovation program in dam of the Rididygama tank also
was visited by the mission team. Members of the team attended the
several discussions on status & future plans of the project.
