Dam owning
institutions have been facing many operational difficulties especially
in inspecting potential risks and defects in reservoirs. 26 boats
were distributed among the implementing agencies to avoid this shortage
and for the convenience of operation, maintenance and inspection works
of the reservoirs for improvement of the basic safety facilities of
the dams under the DSWRP Project.
A demonstration programme also was conducted by the DSWRPP for boat
operators from Department of Irrigation, Mahaweli Authority of Sri
Lanka, National Water Supply and Drainage Board and Ceylon Electricity
Board.
Boats were distributed among project implementing agencies as 13 boats
for Department of Irrigation, 10 for Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka,
2 for Ceylon Electricity Board and 01 boat for National Water Supply
